Childproof Caps or PITA (pain in the ass)

I found this cartoon by looking thru a google images search for 'childproof' caps.  I don't know who gets credit for it, but it certainly portrays my attitude toward childproof prescription bottle caps.  I can get 'em open, but basically they are a 'Pain In The Ass'.

As an old fart here in the BToS, I get my cardio meds on one of those mail-order 90-day prescription deals.  The doctor's office sends the prescription to the supplier, the supplier charges insurance folks and notifies me via email when it's shipped.  I have little to do with the whole prescription process until I attempt to open the childproof cap!

Whoever passed the law requiring childproof caps must have been a young person.  No old fart like myself would ever vote for a law requiring old people to work their ass off just to get a pill out of a bottle.  I actually have to visit my neighbor occasionally to remove prescription bottle caps for her.

A little work with some shears and pliers can remove the safety portion of the cap and convert it to a regular cap, which I do regularly with my own products.  But, you would think I could just visit the website of the prescription company I deal with and check a box for 'regular' caps vice 'childproof' caps.  Heck it would even work if they included a regular cap in the mailer too and I could replace the childproof cap.

JD, here in the BToS waiting for prescription vendors to include regular caps with my mail-order prescription.

PS - Damn childproof caps on my mouthwash too!  Where are my shears?????

Dan Rodricks excellent Commentary - Another Innocent Victim of 'The War On Drugs'

"Another Innocent Victim of 'The War On Drugs".

Excellent commentary by Dan Rodricks in today's Baltimore Sun.

Take a few minutes to read; then ponder it and I think you might agree,
