Was I really a Dale Earnhardt fan? No, not really. Respect for Dale Earnhardt in the latter stages of his career as a driver is probably a more apt description of my feelings for Dale Earnhardt. So why do I display a Dale Earnhardt window sticker and hitch cover on my ol' truck?
I do that to communicate to other drivers that I am an 'old school' NASCAR fan. I've been at it for so long that today I actually am a fan of Dale Earnhardt. A fan that respects what he stood for and the positions he took regarding the world of NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt didn't run NASCAR, but NASCAR sure as hell listened to the boy when he told 'em 'what for'.

As you are painfully aware, I don't know my fanny from first base about NASCAR, but even I felt a conection to Dale. He was just plain cool. He was what us chicks call a "manly man".
