Red State Orphan in a Blue State -- Southern Boy in Maryland

Note: Signs made it all the way thru the election with no vandalism. I am somewhat surprised and grateful.

Saturday after Halloween. No vandalism yet; 23 Days and counting. Signs installed 9 October. Altho, a carload of teens did ride by twice one Sunday afternoon shouting 'Obama; Obama!' at the signs. :-)

Ever feel like you're stuck on an island with a bunch of natives that don't speak your language. Well the BToS is located right here in central Maryland, and Maryland is definitely an Obama state for the 2008 Presidential election.

Hell, if it weren't for a few local items (like the slots amendment to the Maryland state constitution -- that's a whole other story) on the ballot, it would hardly be worth me voting since the Obama vote will be about 60% of the Maryland total; thus Maryland's 10 electoral votes will all go to Obama.

My local congress fella, Elijah Cummings (wonder if he's ever been to the BToS?), will probably get about 80% of the vote. Republican candidates in my horribly gerrymandered 7th congressional district may as well hang it up as they'll surely fail. See district 7 map below. We're in that little hook that looks like Italy (the boot) hanging out the bottom. The Maryland Dems just had to combine us in there to make the few Rep votes insignificant in District 7.

I guess what I'm getting at is that my lonely little McCain/Palin signs in the front yard are kind of just waving in the autumn breezes, 'cause they sure aren't accomplishing anything except to invite vandalism by the bad guys.

Wonder just where I could move to and not be a red state orphan??? I'll have to ponder it for a while.

This is absolutely true. Every show on cable, CNN, MSNBC etc are all for Obama and Fox News is better because at least they give both sides of the story. The media and the television are all biased. I heard Tom Marr on radio this a.m. say even the Associated Press (AP) are biased whereas they never were. It is amazing... Elita
