NASCAR Bristol - Real Racin'

For the first four races of 2009, NASCAR's been playing to large venues (big tracks and big cities), home of snooze-fest racing. Week five brings us to Bristol, home of beatin' and bangin'.

Hard to imagine what it's like sitting in these steep stands that encircle the track and watching 43 CUP cars roll around the concrete half-mile speedway. Talk about noise, vibration, sweet smells and excitement. It's unreal and must be experienced in person to be fully appreciated!

Fella in this foto stands almost 6' 6", so you can tell just how large these stands are and how high they reach toward the nose-bleed section. I won't be able to make it to Bristol this weekend and if you're in the same boat, make some time in front of the ol' HD TV Sunday afternoon for 500 laps of rubbin' and racin', beatin' and bangin' and the best daytime-racin' that NASCAR has to offer. Only thing more fun is Bristol night-racin' later in the year!!!

PS - Foto was taken in fall of '02 when my son and I stopped at Bristol Motor Speedway on a motorcycle road trip from the BToS down to the Great Smoky Mountains to ride the Tail of The Dragon, The Cherohala Skyway and other great biker roads in that area.

I LOVE being there at the races! So much fun! We go to Talladega in Oct. every year. I love it.
