Talk about some fun racin'. More beatin' and bangin' and rubbin' and racin' at Martinsville than at Bristol. Speeds are considerably slower on the low-banked, half-mile, paper clip shaped Martinsville Speedway (foto - Getty Images).
It's the kind of track where slower cars hang on the bottom and in order to pass 'em you more often than not need to root 'em out of the way in the corner and slip under 'em.
With tight corners and long straights, Martinsville is super hard on brakes. These rascals end up backing off the gas just past the start/finish line and are on the brakes hard before letting 'er coast into the corner. They're hardly half way thru the corner and it's back to the gas again. You beat guys coming out of the corners at Martinsville. If you ain't got the git-up and go coming off the turn, then you're gonna be a back feeder the whole race.
I sure hope the weather holds up so we can see some good qualifying and practice Friday and Saturday. There are a couple of guys I'd like to see in the race that don't have guaranteed starting positions.
Good racin' and usually good TV!
Do good stuff; have some fun with beatin' and bangin' 'n rubbin' and racin',

PS - Then there's the Martinsville Hot Dogs
PPS - I'm at the bottom of a 12 player stack in my Yahoo Fantasy NASCAR group. The way I've been picking drivers this season, I may be a bottom feeder the whole season, and that sure ain't no fun. :-)
