Cash for Clunkers - Dealers Suffer - Customers Happy

Customers are loving the 'Cash for Clunkers' program, where they get rid of an old, inefficient vehicle and get the Government to pay $3500-$4500 toward their purchase of a new, fuel efficient vehicle.

"Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said dealers will be repaid as part of the program. "They're going to get their money," he said. (By Susan Walsh -- AP)"

Dealers initially loved the program also, with sales picking up significantly to the point where some manufacturers are having to boost production to replenish dealer stock of new vehicles.

However, the US Government, as usual with a new program, is interminably slow at establishing process and paying money owed. Most dealers are losing money to interest while they await the administration's $$ response to their program participation.

Basically, the dealers are picking up the tab for the Government's slow response. Never thot I'd feel sorry for a car dealer, but ain't it just like the slow government action to kill a program with so much positive press.

Obama doesn't write the checks to the dealers, but he is completely IN CHARGE of the US Government that runs the program and issues the $$ to the dealers. He better get his ass in gear and fire up his government departments if he's gonna sign off on all these stimulus actions and expect $$ to be disbursed.

No wonder dealers are abandoning the program.

Can you imagine just what the Government will do with ObamaCare. Doctors have to wait longer now to be reimbursed under Medicaid at times. If the UK thinks they have it good, I can't wait to see what ObamaCare will provide for the US!!!

Ponder it,
JD
