2010 - Twenty-ten or Two-thousand-ten???

Tomorrow's January 1st of 2010. This begs the question, will you say 'twenty-ten' or 'two-thousand-ten'??? Or will it just become 'ten'. Or something else.

When 2000 came around, I heard most folks calling it 'two-thousand'.
In 2001, I heard 'two-thousand-one' and as the year wore on, most folks were just calling it 'oh-one'.

That seemed to continue with 'oh-two' through 'oh-nine'. Will 2010 become simply 'ten'? Most folks I've heard to date seem to be using 'twenty-ten'. A few have been calling it 'two-thousand-ten'.

Thinking back to the 1900s, I seem to recall we all used 'nineteen-ninety-nine' for 1999 or simply 'ninety-nine'.

I'm sure the standard will be set by TV commentators. As you likely know, we typically adopt their teminology, whether it makes sense or not. Most of those folks seem to be a bit ignorant; but they look really nice and can read a teleprompter. Which reminds me; that's how our current president got elected...reading his teleprompter!!!

Ponder it and let me know,
JD

PS - I'm a 'twenty-ten' kinda guy myself. Years from now, we can all look back and talk about back in 'ten' when times were really tough!!!
