It's probably been about 6 weeks ago that I was out standing in the driveway one day and up walked this fella who introduced himself as Kyle Lorton, Republican candidate for the Maryland State Senate in my district.
He was a tall fella (I ain't too short myself at 6' 3"), cleaned up nice and spoke well. He was telling me a little about his positions and why he wanted to be elected to the state senate and I don't recall him mentioning the salary or senator benefits even one time.
He had seen the Ehrlich signs on the back window of my ol' pickup and figured I might be a good candidate for one of his front yard signs. We talked a bit more and he mentioned the term "Fiscal Conservative". Well, if you've ever read any of my posts on this ol' blog, you already know that the term "Fiscal Conservative" rings true with me.
After he said that, I told him I'd be happy to host one of his campaign signs. Well, I never heard any more from ol' Kyle. Then one night a while back I noticed the yard sign had appeared in my front yard. That happened to be the same night that candidates had convened up on the hill at the Big Town of Savage Fire Company to discuss their candidacy with residents of the Big Town of Savage. I understand ol' Kyle was part of the show that nite.
So far no one's gotten pissed enough to roll thru and swipe or vandalize my sign, and I do feel that it is my sign now, not Kyle's. As a matter of fact, when the really bad storms came thru Sunday afternoon, I brought the sign indoors so it wouldn't get blown away. I just put it back out and took the foto.
If ya wanna see what ol' Kyle looks like and what he's selling, check out his website.
The primary election here in Maryland is Tuesday, September 14, 2010.
Ponder it and vote for ol' Kyle,
JD
PS - I believe the senate seat ol' Kyle is running for is currently held by an old '59 Howard High School classmate of mine, Jimmy Robey. Jimmy has been on the Howard County payroll for as long as I can remember and after retiring as county executive, he decided to roll on down to the bay village of Annapolis to play with the other Democrats and spend more of our money. Ol' Kyle's got his plate full with Jimmy. Everyone around here loves the boy and can't imagine anyone doing a better job. Of course I don't recall Jimmy being much of a fiscal conservative down in Anna-polis. It's really difficult for most Democrats to play that role . . .
PPS - The Bethel Christian Academy has a sign in front of the school across the street too.
