The following post was dated February 1, 2009, just 12 days after Mr. Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of The United States. It's now 19 months later and, if anything, mainstream media reports of racism are increasing, not decreasing.
I believe that most Americans today don't think of a person's race, unless something triggers a thought; typically that trigger is the main stream media.
A major premise of the United States is the acceptance of different heritage and beliefs which includes all races. Can't we just get on with life and forget racial designators in media reports and, more importantly, in our day-to-day lives?
Ponder it and do something about it,

It occurs to me that President Obama's message of 'CHANGE IS NOW' and asking that all of us work together to create a greater America might actually imply that working together would create similar ideals and ideas.
Main Stream Media coverage of United States society seems to take every opportunity to celebrate diversity, the differences of individuals in our society. However, if we are to all work together toward common goals we need to remove diversity and beliefs from the forefront to be replaced with working together and common good.
Black History Month may have passed as a useful tool to educate US citizens. I believe Black History Month has gotten to the point where it has become a divisive tool. I don't recall when it started but I do know that I hear many non-blacks asking "Why don't we have an XXXXX History Month too?" Black History Month is divisive to a large segment of the US population. We need to ignore race and get on with life.
All racially designated items in our culture have passed their usefulness in a society that is celebrating all United States citizens coming together as a single entity to institute President Obama's goal of 'CHANGE IS NOW' in the way we live and do business. Diversity celebration needs to be minimized in today's society as it only creates ill-feelings among diverse groups. We should be embracing togetherness, not diversity.
