Today's the day for this month's edition of the OFL (Old Farts' Lunch - my term, not official). It's kind of neat while I'm riding along on my train of life to stop at a station that also serves other trains of my vintage.
Normally, we have about 5-7 ol' co-workers show up down at Jim's for some lunch and much more BS. Most are of similar age, late 60's/70's and most have similar political leanings, very conservative on fiscal issues. Leanings on social issues run the gamut and can lead to some interesting discussions, especially when I mention taking the money out of illegal drugs; kinda like doing away with prohibition and ridding ourselves of the expense of the ''War On Drugs". Altho, I think most think I'm too liberal on that one.
It should be an exciting lunch today, given that tomorrow is primary election day here in Maryland. If the pot isn't already boiling, I'll try to throw in some added discussion points to enhance the flame a bit. :-)
I'll ponder it on the way to Jim's,
JD
PS - We also get the 'Old Farts' discount on entrees at lunch. And you thot we didn't care!!!
PPS - Bummer...today's stimulating conversation centered around computers and internet; not exactly what I was expecting the day before Maryland primaries. But what can you expect from a bunch of old computer software and ops guys. :-)
