HMS Equipment to blame; not Chad and Jimmie

Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) CUP racing cars have gone from being superior the past few years to being just normal during this 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

Everyone's blaming Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus for not rolling away with the 2010 NASCAR CUP championship. However, if we take a quick look at the performance of the other 3 HMS CUP teams, it becomes pretty clear what's really happening.

Chad and Jimmie are as dominant as ever within the Hendrick organization. They are head and shoulders above the second best performing HMS team, the 24 with Jeff Gordon. The 24 made the 12-team Chase field this year, and have performed admirably, but have shown no winning ways when it comes to performance.

The 5 with Mark Martin made the Chase last year, but fell short this year. And the 88 with Dale Earnhardt, Jr, has shown little performance this season.

In my opinion, the whole Hendrick stable of CUP equipment has been deficient in performance this season when compared to the competition; which actually shows that the 48 team, with Jimmie and Chad, deserve a whole lot of kudos. Their performance has been enough to keep them in the championship hunt up until the final race at Homestead this weekend.

Should they win the NASCAR Sprint CUP this season, it may well be their best performance when compared with their other 4 consecutive championships. They will have come out on top with considerably less than 'top of the line' equipment each week.

Ponder it and enjoy Sunday's final race of the 2010 season,
JD
