Didja ever take one of those airplane flights that takes you east through maybe 5 time zones? You fly all night and arrive the next morning someplace in Europe. You struggle through the day and make like you're really enjoying yourself to make life easier on the folks you have to interact with and to be a good guy.
Than you hit the sack that night and before you know it, it's time to get up for your day of action in the remote work location. You're arising at 6 AM local time, which might only be 1 AM back home. Essentially, you're useless until your body adjusts to the time change; oh, gee whiz, now it's time to go home again and you adjust back to your normal time.
I've mentioned on this blog before that every couple of weeks my son-in-law spends a few nights with me. My normal sleeping schedule is 11-11:30 PM until maybe 7-7:30 in the morning, a good 7.5 - 8 hours sleep each night. When he stays with me, I change my schedule to be up at 5 AM for reasons I won't detail here.
Today is the first day of the schedule change for this week. I had two meals before 10 AM this morning and usually it's around 1 PM before I eat lunch. My mind's a bit on the fuzzy side and I kinda feel stiff too. At my age, 70 now, it's difficult for me to adjust to schedule change.
Maybe I'll just shift full-time to the 5 AM schedule, especially since it's getting daylight at 5 AM in the summer...but then I'd have to go to bed around 9-9:30...bummer!!! We'll just see how it goes for the next couple of weeks.
Don't let my son-in-law know about this as I don't want him to start feeling guilty or something like that. :-)
Do good stuff; have some fun,
JD
