NASCAR Needs A Winter Series

I gotta tellya it's a long 5 weeks from New Years until practice for the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona. Nothing; repeat nothing, is happening with race cars on the track for public consumption until then!!!

I suggest that NASCAR could have a 3-race series in the middle of January, possibly held at the Homestead facility each week with outrageous prize money for each race winner. Races could be held on Sunday afternoons and TV'd. There would be no championship, just race winners. And with no championship CHASE to follow, just good ol' racin' for $$ to fire up the TV show.

My suggestion would be to use the vehicles from the Truck Series!!! Each race would be 150 laps (225 miles). A short 1 hour practice and qualifying for each race would be held the same day before the race. Qualifying would consist of a random drawing for starting position in a 20 lap qualifying race. The top 25 finishers in the qualifying race would take to the track for that day's race. Just like Saturday nite short track, only the race would start at 1 PM Sunday afternoon.

Ponder it,
JD

PS - No debris cautions would be allowed!!!
