NASCAR Pocono - 150 laps cruise control

I suspect it's only human nature that NASCAR drivers attempt to race nice and expedite the first 3/4 of the Monday race after a Sunday rain out. It's almost like the drivers are in a union and agree not to be aggressive drivers until the final 1/4 of the race. That's certainly what happened today.

I'm sure today was meant to be an off day for CUP drivers. The rainout on Sunday really screwed up everyone's plans. Hell, a bunch of 'em were supposed to visit Obama today!!!

So the plan is to exit Pocono (or any other track on a Monday) ASAP; hence drive nice and get outta here!

Then it all went to hell, almost like it was Talladega and the 'big one' showed up, wiping out a bunch of cars and initiating an endless string of cautions. Hell there were enough cautions that Jimmie Johnson got enough 'free passes' to come back to the lead lap after being 3 laps down.

End of the race was fun, first 3/4 of the race was interesting. Certainly better than Sunday's day of rain.

PS - You know the NASCAR/Obama visit would be an interesting visit don't you. I'm sure Obama is just as unfamiliar with a NASCAR race car as he is familiar with a basketball. It likely wasn't a normal part of his culture up there on the streets of Chicago. I'm sure he has quite a few supporters among this young group of drivers, even if he is gonna raise their taxes considerably. They're too young to worry about all that stuff yet. Only us old farts worry about taxes.

PPS - Watkins Glen comes up this week. The WHOLE race will be fun!!!
