NASCAR - This Is A No-Points Weekend

What does a no-points weekend mean in NASCAR parlance? Basically, your accomplishments/disasters in this week's racin' at Charlotte will have no effect on your 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship standings.

Yes sir, this is a back to beatin' and bangin' racin'. Only difference from other Saturday nite races around the country is that the Sprint Cup All-Star Race is held at the 1.5 mile, high-speed, tri-oval racetrack called Charlotte Motor Speedway and will be shown on the SPEED cable TV channel.

What this race does is to free the drivers from the constraint of 'getting a good points' finishing position; they can kind of let it all hang out. No points are awarded for this race, only money ($$$) and the thrill of winning.

The All-Star race is always fun to watch and has plenty of excitement, much more exciting than those mundane stick and ball sports. Only the best that nite win the All-Star Race. It'll be a fun Saturday evening.

Only downside is the extended pre-race hoopla, something I can do without. But the racin' and the beatin' and bangin' makes it worthwhile.

Enjoy,
JD
