No Belgian Waffle at Bob Evans in Columbia

A couple of times each month I have the privilege of accompanying the neighbor lady, who's 92 now, to the local Columbia Bob Evans for a breakfast outing. It's always good to share her conversation for a couple of hours.

The one nice thing about visiting Bob Evans is that you can be pretty sure that the food will be good with no surprises. Neighbor lady usually has something very light and I typically have their Belgian Waffle and some sausage links. I don't make waffles at home, so it's nice to have one when I go out to eat breakfast.

After ordering the Belgian Waffle and sausage links this morning, our favorite waitress notified me that the Belgian Waffle was no longer on the Bob Evans Breakfast Menu. Talk about being shocked. When you get to be an old fart like I am, you tend to become a bit set in your ways and don't like unexpected change.

Needless to say, I was bummed out and didn't really enjoy the substitute pancakes. Neighbor lady was able to enjoy her normal Bob Evans breakfast meal and all in all with the conversation breakfast was an enjoyable event.

Considering the main reason I went to Bob Evans was for the waffle, I'm going to have to seriously consider finding a different breakfast location. I've already complained to the restaurant and to Bob Evans on their website.

Still bummed out three hours later here in the BToS,
JD

PS - While studying the menu this morning, it occurred to me just how much the prices had risen. Maybe it's time to take that ol' waffle machine out of the box and make 'em here for breakfast or dinner. Those frozen toaster waffles just aren't the same for me.

Hi! I know this is old and kind of random, but I'm a huge Bob Evans breakfast fan and they've taken away my two favorite dishes - Stacked and Stuffed Hotcakes and the waffle. I was actually informed that the waffle irons were RENTED, and that each restaurant would have to pay a sum (in the hundreds) to keep them... so back they went :-/ ... was also told they can technically still make the Stacked and Stuffed Hotcakes, but I don't think they can make my favorite kind (Caramel Pecan, hold the bananas). Haven't been back in several months and used to go once a week at least. But there you are.

Take care!

Thanks for the update on the Bob Evans waffle situation. I visited the Columbia restaurant last week and the waitress mentioned she had heard they may bring the waffles back.

I'm one of those folks that really enjoys cooking at home, but waffles always seem like a lot of work, especially since I'm usually eating by myself.

I don't know, I get frustrated at times at changes in restaurants products. Obviously, I don't belong to the younger demographic groups that restaurants typically cater to today. Guess that's just another aspect of aging and wanting things to stay as you've always had them.

Change is necessary, but that doesn't mean that I have to enjoy much of it.

Thanks for the comment and continue to enjoy your favorite breakfasts.

Belgian Waffle is back on Bob Evans menu in Columbia. Menu says it's a new recipe. Mine didn't taste as good as the old one to me, but it was good enough for me this morning.

What took so long???
