Sarah ain't the only one that can wear high heels. When a young boy has two crazy adult (really!) female cousins to pick at him all the time, he's bound to be subjected to constant harassment. On this trip to visit the relatives in Chatham, this is what I had foisted on me one summer in the early '50s.
I didn't really recall much about the episode, but this old foto brought back a lot of it. Main thing I recall is both of 'em telling me how 'cute' I looked! That's probably the last thing an eleven-year old wants to hear.
I seem to recall a lot of giggles and a "quick, get the camera" comment. Then, of course, I had to parade around the living room and show off for the rest of the family (man, my momma sure had a big family!).
I'm not sure how Sarah does it, but it had to be difficult for me to walk in those old high heels. However, it did give me an idea of what it was like to be about 4 inches taller; definitely a big thing for a young boy in the '50s! :-)
